How A Levels Work at The Sheffield Sixth Form
Whatever your interests, and wherever your strengths lie, here at The Sheffield Sixth Form, we have an array of subjects and pathways that'll set you on the right path towards your dream career.
Explore more below, or visit an Open Day to find out more.
Pathways
Here at The Sheffield Sixth Form, we have developed a range of career pathways that you can choose from when it comes to picking your A Levels.
Each pathway is designed to fit different career options, so if you've got a career in mind, you can choose qualifications that'll set you up for achieving that exact aim.
There are six pathways to choose from: Creative Arts, Business, Law, Humanities, STEM, and Writing. Every pathway includes one or two core A Levels plus a choice of a second and/or third A Level from a collection of related subjects within that sector.
This means that students on a career pathway will study subjects which perfectly complement each other, helping them to gain the knowledge and skills for a place at university and a successful career in their chosen sector.
A Levels
Students are welcome to choose from our full list of A Levels if they don't have a specific career in mind. This is a great option for students who are still figuring out what they'd like to do in the future, as they can simply pick subjects they enjoy, and let that lead the way towards their future career.
Students can choose from A Level qualifications to focus on theory and prepare for university, and vocational qualifications which focus on practical skills for a specific career or industry.
There are a number of A Level and vocational subjects to choose from:
Environmental Science
Biology
BTEC Applied Science
Business Studies

Three Year Programme
This programme enables our students to complete their A Levels whilst simultaneously undertaking a GCSE maths resit if they have not yet achieved a grade 4. This option runs over three years, taking GCSE maths and three A Levels in total. Take a look at your options on our What can I study? page.
